I’m Hannah, the artist behind Countess Creates. I work primarily in oil and ink, creating original pieces that tend toward the dark, atmospheric, and unusual. My work is influenced by horror, the natural world, favourite fandoms, and whatever happens to catch my attention and stay there long enough to become something.
I’ve never been particularly interested in fitting my work into one category. Sometimes it’s a reaper or something unsettling; other times it’s a quiet landscape, a candle, a character I love, or simply an idea I wanted to see on paper. What tends to connect it all is atmosphere. I like work that feels as though there might be a story behind it, even when I don’t tell you what that story is.
Outside of the studio, I’m a teacher, gamer, and lifelong lover of all things nerdy. When I’m not making art or spending time with my cat, I’m usually around a table with friends playing Magic: The Gathering or Dungeons & Dragons, lost in a video game, or coming up with yet another project I probably didn’t need to start.
I am Countess. I create.
